Calabash Cat and His amazing Journey

Story by James Rumford

I wrote the whole post and than tomorrow deleted it by mistake. Great.

So, here we are again:

"Calabash Cat and His amazing Journey" by James Rumford
With our two preschool groups, we did two art activities inspired by Calabash Cat. Here is the first one:

First, we used fine line pen to fill our Calabash Cat drawing with all the different types of lines.

This was just the basic outlines drawing, without the details - that is left for kids to add as they see fit.

I prepared this unfinished drawing with black marker, looking at the cat from the book but making it bigger, to fit the size of the construction paper we will later use as a background color of our choice.

Then we painted our cat with watercolors.

Next step, we were looking for letters for the “Calabash Cat” title.

Then we glued the title under the cat.

So, our colorful cat got the name and is finally ready to go home!

As always, I am very proud of little hands’ wonderful results.
The cat is same as in the book but all art ideas are our own.
Please give credit to www.sonjaearlyarts if re-using.
Thank you!
